22-04-2001 ~ 11-03-2024
Leah Anne Smith, a much loved daughter, sister, partner and friend who passed away surrounded by loved ones on 11th March 2024. Leah was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer that she fought so bravely throughout.
Leah’s presence will be missed today and all days, Leah had an infectious laugh that could make the darkest of days that little brighter…. A sunflower, in every aspect a sunflower portrays Leah very well.
One in a billion…
Leah’s personality is one of a strong willed, kind, caring yet funny person. Leah had a way to make anybody laugh, smile and feel better whilst in her company. A rare trait to hold yet Leah could share the infectious laugh she carried and you would naturally want to smile with Leah. In every way Leah really was one in a billion she would find herself in some strange situations that could only happen to Leah, like the time she bumped into Boris Johnson whilst in Wales. Take a look at Leah’s reaction.
Family at the center
Leah’s family, partner and friends was always at the centre of Leah’s heart. Throughout Leah’s treatment and fight she was always supported and surrounded by her loved ones. It is clear to see just what this meant to Leah. Leah’s mum, Jenny has always meant the world to Leah along with her brother Liam, Sister Orla and Leah’s partner Andrew. Friends have always played a big part in Leah’s life and like family have always supported and cared for Leah and we all know that if Leah could, she would be there for us too. We need to always remind ourselves on the dark days that we have been so lucky to have known Leah, to be in a remarkable young girls life.
Her Journey’s Just begun
By Ellen Brenneman
Don’t think of Leah as gone away
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.
If there was any proof required to show that Leah is an extroaidary human who always cared so much for her loved ones then lets always re-visit this text message that Leah sent to her mum. In true Leah form she is thinking of those she loved even when she is facing so many challenges and struggles in her daily life. When the harder days arise come back and read this message, know that Leah is with you in spirit guiding and supporting you as you have to Leah knowing that each foot forward you take is carrying Leah’s Legacy.
Oh the laughter…
Leah truly always found a way to be brave, to make other smile. The laughter we know came easy to Leah but yet those who knew Leah will always remain in awe at Leah’s strength. Throughout the challenging years Leah took the highs with the lows and she battled hard. The way she always put best foot forward, even when she didn’t want too is inspirational.
Whilst facing those challenging years Leah began to document her journey via social media channels such as YouTube, Tik Tok and it isn’t any surprise that Leah found herself an army of sunflower supporters right behind her, with well over 500,000 followers.
