Goodbye and good luck
Miss Daley
Miss Daley, where could we possibly begin in wishing you goodbye. We know that you and Elizabeth will create the most amazing life out there in Australia and we want to send you off with our best wishes and some good luck messages. We will continue to think of you as you start this brand new and exciting journey together.
From our children…
You need to be brave, be strong and be courageous. All the things you have helped to teach our children you are now putting into practice to take life’s opportunity and to trust in God. Our children will deeply miss you as you create a new way of life for both you and Elizabeth but they know you are doing what you need to do and wish you the very best as you begin this journey. Lets hear from some of our children in this video.
From our parents
You’re Going Down Under (Walking on Sunshine)
Verse 1
Miss Daley, you’re off to Australia for a brand new start
But we always know that St Joseph’s will stay in your heart
With Elizabeth by your side, it will make your day
We’ll miss you here but we’re happy you’re both on your way.
Chorus
You’re going down under woah
You’re going down under woah
You’re going down under woah
And don’t it feel good
Alright now
And don’t it feel good
Hey yeah
Verse 2
We used to think you’d stay at St Joseph’s, now we know that’s not true
We’re sure there are perchanga dangas a’waiting for you
Don’t forget to use your hand signals, when you fly off above
You’re leaving us here, at St Joe’s, with a school full of love.
Chorus
You’re heading to sunshine woah
You’re heading to sunshine woah
You’re heading to sunshine woah
And don’t it feel good
Hey, alright now
And don’t it feel good
Yeah, oh yeah
And don’t it feel good
You’re flying down under
You’re flying down under
We feel the love, we feel the love, we feel the love, that’s in our school
We feel the love, we feel the love, we feel the love, that’s in our school
You’re in sunshine baby, oh oh yeah
You’re in sunshine baby, oh
You’re going to Melbourne, woah
You’re going to Melbourne, woah
You’re going to Melbourne, woah
You’re gonna feel good!
We’ll say it, say it, say it again now
And don’t it feel good!
Ohhhhh yeah
And don’t it feel good
And don’t it, don’t it, don’t it, don’t it, don’t, don’t it feel good
We’ll say it, say it, say it again now
And don’t it feel good
Now don’t it, don’t it, don’t it, don’t it, don’t it, don’t it feel good

Michelle,
Goodbyes are so difficult, but here goes… a huge thank you for all the guidance, encouragement and support you have given me over the years. You were a massive part of my journey to becoming an Assistant Headteacher, a role I am so proud to have achieved.
The three of us together made a fantastic team, and we have been through so much. I will miss the great times we’ve had, the laughs (even during SLT meetings), the fun days/nights out, and all the memories in between. I will cherish them.
Australia is very lucky to have you, and I have no doubt that you will bring the same energy, dedication, passion, and love to your new school. We will miss you at St Joseph’s, but we are excited for you and Elizabeth and the amazing life that you have to look forward to.
Wishing you both all the sunshine, happiness and joy in your new adventure.
Lots of love,
Amanda

As you prepare to start this new exciting chapter of your life in Australia with Elizabeth, I’ve been reflecting on our time together over the years and the journey we have shared both as Headteacher and Deputy, and most importantly, as friends.
Over the years of working together, I’ve come to appreciate your meticulous attention to detail, your love for organising, your fantastic sense of humour and your unique IT skills, especially when it comes to remembering passwords and logins!
There are so many memorable times I will hold onto—from the time we filmed a piece to camera up at the top gate, trying to record for the children preparing to come back to school after COVID. The outtakes from this are hysterical due to the gazillion times I kept messing up and just could not remember my lines!
Then there’s the time you were insistent that children have toast for their snack and you were not budging on this despite the consultation with staff against the idea!
Who can forget your ritual of spraying air freshener around the school whenever visitors were due?!
We’ve seen so many staff, children and families come and go, and now it’s your turn to leave. This fills me with such mixed emotions. I am so happy for you and Elizabeth while at the same time, I feel so sad. I will miss you so much and the thought of coming to school in September without you here is not something I am looking forward to.
I would not be the Deputy I am today had it not been for all your support, guidance, passion, encouragement and most of all, the love you have given me. I truly hope you and Elizabeth find the happiness and fulfilment you deserve in Australia. Your strength, dedication and kindness will undoubtedly enrich the lives of everyone you meet there, just as they have here.
Take care and please, please, please stay in touch and make us all envious with countless videos and photos of all the sunshine you will be waking up to every day!
With all my love and best wishes,
Becky

Michelle, this has been one of the hardest things to wrote to summarise you and everything you do. You gave me a chance and have helped me grow my confidence within a role that many do not understand but you always have. You have been an inspiration and really have had a huge impact on me and my development this year you have truly supported, loved and cared for me! School will not be the same without you and I am truly devastated that I have not been able to work with you longer. Never forget how inspiring you are and the difference you make! I know you and Elizabeth will be so happy in Australia and you both deserve it! Thank you for always being there and supporting me. You are leaving a hole in our work family but I know it’s for the best! Please stay in touch I can’t wait to hear about the adventures from you and Elizabeth. All my love Nikole ❤️

Miss Daley, the way all the children love you reflects just how much of an impact you have had on the school. You will be truly missed but this is a fantastic chance for both you and Elizabeth and I for one am very proud of you. All the best from Charlotte Caulfield and the girls. xXx

Michelle I’ve only known you a few years since moving back to Leigh in 2017. Becoming a governor at St Joseph’s 3 years ago I have come to know you better . The Daley family of Atherton moved our family to Wrexham from Leigh in 1976 and I was in school with your Auntie Lynda as you know ! Memories eh😊 Thank you so much for ALL you have done for St Joseph’s - children , staff , parents and governors alike Yes you will MISS and be MISSED but everywhere we go in life we take the love and memories with us and they become part of who we are . God bless and Bon Voyage Susan

Dear Michelle, I was trying to think of something witty and humorous to write but I'll just ramble instead, as per usual 🙃. I'm going to miss you soo much! You've been the best boss I've ever had and I truly mean that ❤️. I'm so so sad that you're leaving us but so so happy for you and Elizabeth, Australia is very lucky to have you! Me and the rest of the Brucie Bunch are going to miss you at the Panto too, although I'm not sure if we'll go this year if Cameron the Dame isn't going to be there. No Daleys, no Dame = No damn good! ☹️ Bah humbug! I forgot to show you a pic of Cam without his make up, wig, dress and boobs! Here's a link to an award he won (yes, I still stalk him) https://www.facebook.com/share/p/aPrtSJQ8iDn1dCnY/ and his full name's on there so you can search his name and stalk his Facebook profile too like me! 😂 Anyhooooo 😅... Have the best time and enjoy every single minute, you deserve it! No looking back!!! You've got this!!!!!!!!!! With love, hugs and lots of luck from Sarah, Neil, Holly, James, Abigail & Fozzy xxx

Dear Michelle,
Well, what can I say? You will be sorely missed by everyone at St Joseph's, especially me! You have always had confidence in me and been there when I needed a 'pick-me-up', whinge or a shoulder to cry on. I will never forget our video call when I was at death's door...you were one of the first people I phoned....but, as you know, I was not quite ready to go through it yet!!
Forgetting Passwords, celebrating SATs, sorting assemblies and all the times of the year we come together...they will never be the same again!
You are so brave to make this life-changing move for you and Elizabeth...I am both envious and proud of you at the same time! I will miss you more than you know!
Enjoy the beach, barbies, booze and have a bloody good time....family is all that matters in the end, isn't it?
I hope you and Elizabeth have the time of your lives....you both deserve it!
All my love, Chris
